I am really on a roll here with marbeling on clay! it is such A Process... working on raw super soft clay whic gets softer with all the slips on it. Half the work im working on simply collapse or fall apart in drying. Or a clay decides its a nice place to leave a cat impression :( Not to mention the amount of clean up after each marbeling session. Since my studio is completely open , the wind also factors in. But for this firing another very beloved natural event creates mayhem. THE

rains.

October, November saw loads of rain in Auroville and a couple of cyclones mid november. That left my studio so humid that it was near impossible to dry anything. Wrong process for such a weather where I have to let the work dry leather hard, marble it then which makes it super hydrated again and then let it dry out. Madness.

Whats really interesting to observe in oneself is the need to keep persuing what one is currently in love with. So when a friend needed a few bowls and tumblers, a couple of plates I land up showing her the marbeling work. Ofcourse she wants that. So thats how this firing had a deadline and I had to have the stuff ready by December first week.

The saga continues... I made , loaded up and fired. On opening everything was great EXCept this tiny order!!!!! Making it in the rain,(bowls kept collapsing) firing it in other studio kilns ( space crunch so had to phase it ). Finally on 2nd december I had the neccessary order done but with one peice cracked!

These images are in the clients home which I delivered in pelting rain. Forgive the poor images . Probably my phone lens was damp :)

I am continue being a ceramist.. coz thats what I cant help but be. Kind of obvious to me.
