Auroville potters market 2025 - a success

 

Doing a pottery market in your hometown is one of the joys of being a potter. Interacting directly with people who love ceramics and express their appreciation is really wonderful. Such a joyous space gets created when potters bring their beloved works and put them up for viewing and selling!! 

 This was the 6th edition  of International Auroville Potters Market. We were just local potters from Auroville, Pondicherry and bio region. So just 17 tables with 20 potters. Ofcourse there was the kids corner where kids could explore working with clay. And the demonstration tent where artists showed how they work. 

It was all a beautiful celebration of ceramics, sharing the joy and pains of what we love to do. It was very nice for me personally to meet other aurovillians as I am not socializing much on regular days. Catching up with people from pondicherry who are ceramic lovers. And the kids jumping around. All just perfect in its way.

The event hapeening so well was just a miracle. First with all the change of management within auroville. That was so much work . Then for me it was getting support to actually do the market,. I am a single studio potter, without apprecntice , volunteer or employed staff. So it was such a joy when a friend asked if tshe could help. Then my mentee, someone who is in the process of joining Auroville, Jean, asked if I needed help. These two were invaluable in their support. 

 Jean was with me all the three day event. Incredible as she is 76 years!!! but she loves talking which Im not into. So, we mamanged it without any hiccups; such Grace.
